Note to buy tax-free Japanese goods (tax-free) when traveling to Japan

Buy at the right store, supermarket clearly marked TAX-FREE

When buying Tax-Free goods, you are NOT DECIDED directly, but must pay in full, and then go to the TAX REFUND counter to receive the tax amount back.

Not all stores have tax counters. In that case you must bring the receipt to the nearby Tax Refund Counter.

Even if a store or a Supermarket has a tax counter in the same building, you should also note that the waiting time for the tax refund procedure is quite long because there are too many customers waiting in line (Chinese citizens and foreigners). Other countries come to Japan to buy a lot of goods).

Most tax refunds will charge a Service Fee, so you won't get the full 8%, but a bit less (personally, I've noticed, most are a 1.1% charge, so you get 6.9% ).

Purchase invoices must meet the minimum requirements to be eligible for Tax Refund. In stores, it is clearly stated that the minimum amount of the invoice to receive a tax refund.

Note that because it is a Consumption Tax Free item in Japan, you are not allowed to consume it in Japan, so some items such as food and drinks will require Sealing until you out of Japan.
